Rusty Blades trade rumour:
Chuck Brown and Tom Hart of the Blues, to the Terrors, for "future considerations."
Rusty Blades rumor #2
Larry Seabrook is on the block as well, major team violation concerning the team beverage container, heard he will be offered up for an even trade for the retired Harold
A high ranking official for the Blues said the team must get tougher... "After last nights tilt the league seems to be going in a direction similar to that of the Silverkings of the SHL.
With that being said I can't imagine Seabrook going anywhere...he's the bad boy of the RBHL. With only one minor spillage incident with the beverage cooler he should be forgiven. He was giving 100% at the time just like he does on the ice.
Seabrook was later quoted "I don't think the Blues could easily roll through the 2nd half without me. I'm going with the wait and see approach"
Adding Harold to the line up could add some toughness but could he replace my foot speed.
Blues management team has been scrambling and a tentative meeting date is set for the 28th at an umdisclosed location.
Offical from Head Office
"Harold is done, broken skate, during these difficult economic times no new skates are being sourced"
Blues have declined Harolds offer to tend the cooler as the Tempataions could be just a little too much for the old guy.
Is that Vance riding the Mighty Blues cooler???
Blues perch atop Saint Croix Courier Power Rankings
The St. Stephen Mehan's Funeral Home Bud Light Blues separated themselves even farther from the RBHL pack in this week's Power Rankings, as determined by the Saint Croix Courier.
The Blues earned two more victories this week - a 7-4 win Wednesday on the road in St. Andrews and a 3-1 home victory Sunday against a surly Alpines team. The Blues continue to pile up wins and enter the holidays with just one loss on their record.
Wednesday in St. Andrews, the revamped St. Andrews Senators squad attempted to give the Blues the Crabbes, bringing brothers Stephen and Patrick Crabbe up from the minors for the game. After a shaky start, the more-experienced Blues took control.
"We have a lot of veteran leadership on this club," said goaltender Chuck Brown. "It's great to see a guy like Peter McCormick maturing into that role and stepping up, filling the void left by some retirements."
The Blues were galvanized Sunday in a hard-fought win over the Milltown Boulevard Bullies, the Alpines.
"The past is the past," said Blues super pest Larry Seabrook, who has clicked with Terry Avery to form what McCormick dubbed the Blues' "two-headed monster" - a potent one-two punch.
Seabrook said the key to the Blues surprising run this season is chemistry.
"We're gelling. We play as a team," he said after Wednesday's game.
"St. Andrews had some good, young players out there tonight and on paper they probably should have beat us. But we moved the puck well and we play with trust in one another."
But despite cruising through the first half of the schedule with only one blemish - a 4-3 loss to the Waweig Warriors - the Blues don't appear to be willing to relax.
"We'll see how Sunday's game goes," McCormick said of the last game before the holidays.
"If we continue to play our solid team game, we might just give the boys Boxing Day off as well as Christmas. If I see a letdown, it could be a short holiday."
RBHL POWER RANKINGS
1. Mehan's Blues
Steady from the goal on out, plenty of pop from the cops up front. Is there a AAA division in Rusty Blades?
2. Waweig Warriors
Can bring scoring punch and grit, some consistency issues.
3. St. Stephen Terrors
Watch for these underachievers to put it in gear for the playoff drive.
4. St. Stephen Alpines
Always play with an edge, seem to have gone over it of late.
5. St. Andrews Senators
Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
6. Canadian Tire Lagers
Lucky to be freed of Nordstrom's contract when he retired but too much of a personnel turnaround too fast.
